How do I use a medication pen?

How many pen needles do I need?

It depends on the number of doses of medication in each vial and the total number of vials you have. You can estimate the number using the following steps.

1. Divide the total amount of medication in the vial by your desired dose (eg 30mg vial, divided by 5mg dose, gives 6 doses per vial)

2. Multiply the number of doses by the number of vials you have (eg 6 doses per vial, multiplied by 10 vials, gives 60 doses)

3. For this example you would need about 60 pen needles.

What is bacteriostatic water?

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water that contains a small amount of alcohol (0.9%) to impair bacterial growth in a solution. Peppy Peeps Australia supplies bacteriostatic water from Oz Vials.
